Careers Expo at CSU Set for March 19

COLUMBUS, Ga. - Jobseekers will have access to more than 100 employers during Careers Expo 2008 on Wednesday, March 19 at Columbus State University.

Lumpkin Center Doors will open to the public from 1-4 p.m. as CSU’s Career Center and Accounting Principals Inc. of Columbus present the event.

Participating employers from the surrounding region, metro Atlanta and as far away as Arizona (U.S. Border Patrol), will represent private industry, state and federal agencies, school districts, non-profit organizations and others.

In addition to serving CSU alumni and the off-campus community, the event provides career connections for CSU students, who will have an exclusive, noon-1 p.m. networking opportunity with the employers the same day.

“A survey of participating employers revealed a strong demand for new graduates in the fields of education, business and the sciences,” said Career Center Coordinator Lyn Riggsby-Gonzalez, who is coordinating the expo.

The Career Center has prepared students for the event this past year via workshops on topics including resume preparation, appropriate attire and conversation techniques.

The center also will erect a rock-climbing wall at the Thomas Y. Whitley Clock Tower for an 11 a.m.-1 p.m. March 12 “Climb Your Way to Success” event to further promote the event to students.

Co-sponsors of the job fair include Aflac, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia and Wellpoint Inc., CareerBuilder, Clear Channel Communications, Country’s Barbecue, Doctors Hospital, Ledger-Enquirer, St. Francis Hospital, Staffing Solutions, Synovus Financial Corp., TIC Federal Credit Union, TSYS, WLGA-TV and WTVM-TV.
