Careers Expo at CSU Set for March 4

COLUMBUS, Ga. - Jobseekers will have access to a wide range of employers during Careers Expo 2009 on Wednesday, March 4 at Columbus State University.

Doors will open to the public from 1-4 p.m. as CSU Career Center and Accounting Principals Inc. of Columbus present the event in the Lumpkin Center.

Participating employers from the surrounding region, metro Atlanta and as far away as Arizona (U.S. Border Patrol), will represent private industry, state and federal agencies, school districts, non-profit organizations and others.

In addition to serving CSU alumni and the off-campus community, the event provides career connections for CSU students, who will have an exclusive, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. networking opportunity with the employers the same day.

Despite the uncertain economic times, it is fundamental for job seekers to take advantage of career fairs, said CSU Career Center Director Kimberly Mullen. 'There's no question things have changed, and there is great ambiguity about how long the current period of economic difficulty will last,' she said. 'However,CSU's Careers Expo will provide a tremendous opportunity to our students, alumni and local residents to network with employers who might just have an adequate job for them.'

The Career Center has prepared students for the event this past year via workshops by community professionals who are covering resume preparation, appropriate attire and conversation techniques.
