College of Education and Health Professions Dean Named

Deirdre GreerDear Colleagues:

It is my pleasure to announce that Dr. Deirdre Greer has accepted an offer from Columbus State University to be the next Dean of the College of Education and Health Professions, effective June 1, 2015.Dr. Greer has been serving as the Interim Dean since September 2014.

Dr. Greer earned a Ph.D. in Early Childhood Education with a specialization in reading from Auburn University. She also earned the M.Ed. and B.S.Ed. in Early Childhood Education from Columbus State University. Dr. Greer has 8 years of elementary classroom teaching experience and has taught both undergraduate and graduate early childhood courses at CSU. She has served previously as the Associate Dean, the Department Chair for Teacher Education, the Assistant Department Chair, and the Early Childhood program coordinator.

Dr. Greer presents frequently at the National Association for the Education of Young Children Annual Conference, the National Council for Teachers of Mathematics, the American Educational Research Association, and has several publications in refereed journals. She has also served as a co-principal investigator on several Teacher Quality Grants that provide professional development for elementary school teachers. Dr. Greer is a Georgia Professional Standards Commission Board of Examiners member and has been involved in multiple program reviews at colleges and universities across the state of Georgia. She is an active member of the American Association of Colleges of Teacher Education and the Georgia Association of Colleges of Teacher Education. Please join me in congratulating Dr. Greer on her appointment to this position.
