Columbus Interactive Media Fest Offers Glimpse at the South’s Game Industry
Columbus State University will host the third annual Columbus Interactive Media Fest on Saturday, July 14. The event will feature keynote speakers, networking, and lunch with professionals in the gaming industry and those interested in a career in the field.
“We have seen a significant interest in both digital entertainment and video game development from the Columbus area. CIMFest is the perfect opportunity for students and professional developers alike to increase their skills and reach. Anyone interested in game development would benefit from going,” said Andrew Greenberg, Executive Director of the Georgia Game Developers Association.
The celebration of the South’s game and simulation developers will feature guest speakers like Chris Patterson, owner of Bricks and Minifigs in Columbus; Jesse James Allen, editorial director at Falcon’s Creative Group, a theme park and interactive design studio in Orlando; and Joe Cassavaugh, the CEO, designer and engineer of Puzzles by Joe.
“There has always been a lot of interest here in Columbus for making games,” said Rod Obando, CIMFest Director and student records specialist at CSU. “We created CIMFest to not only give local game developers a place to showcase what they have created but also to attract industry experts to share their knowledge and skills."
The event will be held in CSU Davidson Center on main campus from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 or $10 for students and CSU alumni. Click here to register.
