Columbus State Small Co-Ed Cheerleading Team Wins National Championship

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Columbus State's Small Co-Ed Cheerleading team won the Universal Cheerleaders Association National Championship Saturday afternoon in Orlando, claiming the fourth Small Co-Ed Cheerleading Team national championship in school history. CSU was an automatic qualifier in the finals after placing first in the qualifying rounds prior to the National Championship competition.  

The University of Southern Indiana was the runner-up followed by Iowa Western Community College. Wilmington University and Riverside City College rounded out the Top 5.

It was the second National Champion for Columbus State at the 2011 UCA Championship as Tommy Goforth and Ali Anderson won the Partner Stunt competition Friday night. CSU's Jason Riel and Chelsie Horton teamed up to finish behind them in second place while Jon Lee and Cassidy Drysdale took home fourth.

Later Saturday,  the Columbus State Large Co-Ed team took home second place.  The University of West Georgia took home the title followed by CSU, Northwest Missouri State University, Slippery Rocky University and the University of Puerto Rico Bayamon.      more >>
