Columbus State Women’s Soccer Places 11 on PBC All-Academic Team

Augusta, Ga. – Pairing together with outstanding on-field success, the Columbus State University women's soccer team had 11 players named to the Peach Belt Conference All-Academic Team, announced by the league on Wednesday.

Claire Belay, Nicole Corcione, Casey Davis, Jackie Hellett, Mandy Janowitz, Lindsey Law, Taylor Marks, Maylyn Parsons, Kelsey Pelletier, Chelsea Person and Shelby Rolling were each honored for their work in the classroom.

Columbus State led the conference with 11 selections, while no other school had more than seven.

To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution. The Peach Belt Conference Sports Information Directors oversee and select the teams.

Corcione, Parsons, Pelletier, Person and Rolling each earned Capital One Academic All-District honors last week.

The Lady Cougars are off to the best start in program history, having just completed their first unbeaten regular season.

Following last night's 5-0 win over USC Aiken, Columbus State will play UNC Pembroke in the PBC Tournament semifinals on Friday night in Evans, Ga. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. from Blanchard Woods Park.
