“THE POWER WALL: WORKING IN A MULTICORE ENVIRONMENT”
The lecture will be given by Dr. Edward Bosworth, faculty member of TSYS Department of Computer Science.
The talk will begin with a brief discussion of the "power wall" as a motivation for the move toward multicore CPUs. It will then decribe a multicore CPU as a multiprocessor and discuss issues in allocating work to multiple processors. This idea of allocating work to workers in order to keep all of the workers productively occupied must certainly have parallels in the world of business, which is why I hope some of our business faculty will attend the talk.
