Over the past 48 hours, CSU Police has received an increase in theft reports involving vehicles on CSU’s main campus. On Monday (2/1/16), two cases were reported where the suspects apparently targeted vehicles with items of value (including change and a wallet) that were left in plain sight. This happened in the lot next to University Avenue by the Intramural Field.
Yesterday (2/2/16), a vehicle was reported stolen from parking lot 3 (below Richards Hall) on main campus. The vehicle was later recovered in Phenix City, Alabama.
CSU Police is investigating all of these incidents and provides the following tips for ensuring the safety of persons and property on campus:
-- Report any suspicious persons or activity immediately to CSU Police at (706) 507-8911.
-- Lock and secure all vehicle doors and windows.
-- Remove any items of value inside your vehicle from view (place items in the trunk, in a storage compartment, or take them with you).
-- Always park in visible, well-lit areas.
-- Don't leave spare keys in your vehicle.
-- Be sure to secure your vehicle and your property, even if you'll only be gone for a minute.
