CSU Accepting Townsend Award Nominations
Columbus State University is now accepting nominations from the public for the Dr. John Townsend Achievement Award, named in honor of the first African-American student to enroll at CSU.
For the first time ever, nominations can be completed and submitted online at http://ua.colstate.edu/public_relations/townsend.htm.
The award recognizes a person, organization or group from Columbus, Phenix City, Fort Benning, or surrounding areas that has made a positive and noteworthy contribution to the community, or achieved distinction for outstanding professional or personal service. In addition to meeting the above criteria, the nominee must also exemplify high moral character and be held in high esteem by the local community.
Submission deadline is Jan. 27. The award will be presented at CSUs annual Black Applause Banquet on Feb. 24 at CSUs Cunningham Center. For more information, a paper nomination form or to purchase banquet tickets ($25 per person), call Ray Lakes, at 562-1654, between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday-Friday.
