CSU Cheerleaders Among Top Squads in Nation

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- For the sixth year in a row, Columbus State has finished in the nations top three at the College National Cheer Championships held by the Universal Cheerleaders Association.

CSU performed well at the Milkhouse Arena here in Disneys Wide World of Sports complex but saw a national championship escape its grasp again as West Georgia won another title. Slippery Rock (Pa.) finished second in Division II. On Saturday the Small Co-Ed squad finished fourth in its bid for a third-straight national title.

Columbus State will now return home and turn its attention to winning a second-straight Peach Belt Conference title. The Cougar squad won the 2005 championship after a two-year hiatus. The competition will be held as part of the annual PBC Basketball Championships in Greenwood, S.C., in early March.
