AUG. 20 FRESHMAN CONVOCATION A RITE OF PASSAGE FOR NEW STUDENTS

Columbus State University will hold its 2006 Freshman Convocation at 4 p.m. Sunday in CSUs Fine Arts Hall. Remarks by CSU officials and keynote speaker, Bobby J. Olds, will be part of this formal rite of passage designed to set the tone for the college careers of the CSU class of 2010 by inducting them into the CSU community of learners.

Olds is a 2003 political science graduate of CSU and recently graduated University of Georgia law school. Other speakers will include CSU President Frank Brown, Vice President for Academic Affairs George Stanton and Vice President for Student Affairs Larry Kees.

AUG. 21 FACULTY RECITAL TO FEATURE GUITARIST ANDREW ZOHN
Columbus State Universitys Schwob School of Music will host a faculty recital by guitarist Andrew Zohn at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the RiverCenters Legacy Hall. Admission to the performance is free. Zohn has earned prizes in five national and international competitions including the Guitar Foundation of America and the Stotsenberg International. His latest recording, Music of Piazzolla, Debussy, Gershwin, and Zohn, is available through Centaur Records. For more information, call 706-649-7225.

AUG. 23 WELCOME BACK BASH TO UNITE STUDENTS, FACULTY AND STAFF

Columbus State Universitys Student Life division will host a Welcome Back Bash from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday on campus at the Thomas Y. Whitley Clock Tower. This event, featuring food, inflatable games and student organization demonstration booths, is designed to bring together CSU students, faculty and staff to celebrate the beginning of fall semester.
