Dec. 1- FINAL APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR SPRING SEMESTER
Friday is the deadline to apply for spring 2007 enrollment at Columbus State University. For more information, call 706-568-2035 or visit http://admissions.colstate.edu. The admissions office is located in Fine Arts Hall and is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Dec. 1 CSU TO STAGE WORLD AIDS DAY BENEFIT EVENT
Columbus State University students will showcase their talents in a World AIDS Day entertainment event for all ages at 7 p.m. Friday in the Fine Arts Hall auditorium. The program will feature musical, dance and theatrical performances by campus organizations including G.E.N.E.S.I.S. Gospel Choir, Revelations Dance Ministry, African Students Organization, the CSU Hispanic Association (CHISPA) and students from the Department of Theatre.
Admission is $4 per person with proceeds going to the Columbus Health Departments District Clinical Services program, which provides free HIV/AIDS resources to the community. The event is sponsored by the CSU chapter of the Eta Sigma Gamma professional health education honor society. For more information, call 706-568-2283.
Dec. 2 - NCAA MENS BASKETBALL: CSU TO HOST CARVER BIBLE COLLEGE
The CSU mens basketball squad will host Carver Bible College in a non-conference game 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2 in the Lumpkin Center. Dec. 4 INTERNATIONAL FILM SERIES TO CONCLUDE
Columbus State Universitys Center for International Education will screen Mermaid Princess (also known as My Mother the Mermaid) at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4 in the International House. In this 2004 fantasy, a young woman is transported to the world of her parents youth. She witnesses the courtship of her parents, and gains insight into the history of her family. The film screening is free and open to the public and will conclude this falls series themed Contemporary Korea in Film. For more information, call 706-565-4036.
Dec. 4 - GUITAR STUDIO RECITAL
CSUs Schwob School of Music will present a CSU Guitar Studio recital at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4 in the RiverCenters Legacy Hall. The program will feature works ranging from classical to contemporary. General admission is $5 and free for faculty, staff and students with CSU ID. Dec. 5 - CSU PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA TO PERFORM
CSUs Schwob School of Music will present the CSU Philharmonic Orchestra in concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5. The performance will include internationally acclaimed violinist Sergui Schwartz, CSUs William B. and Sue Marie Turner Distinguished Faculty Chair in Violin. Dec. 7 CSU HISTORY SERIES TO COVER CIVIL WAR
The Civil War, a presentation by local history experts, will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7 at the Port Columbus Civil War Naval Museum. The presenters are Matt Young, director of education and programs at the museum, and Mark Wetherington, a Louisville, Ky., historian whose writings have focused on Civil War-era Georgia. Young also will lead a Saturday, Dec. 9 bus tour of Civil War sites in Columbus, leaving from the Columbus Public Library at 10 a.m. and returning by noon.

Dec. 8 - WORLD CUISINE TO BE SAMPLED IN HOLIDAY EVENT
CSUs Columbus Hispanic Association invites guests to sample holiday foods that are traditional in various countries during Christmas Flavors from Around the World, beginning 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8 in CSUs International House at 6 Clearview Circle. Guests will have an opportunity to sample cuisine, representing Mexico, Honduras, Colombia, Venezuela, Nigeria, Germany, El Salvador and other nations.
