DEC. 19 - NCAA Men’s Basketball
Columbus State’s men’s basketball squad hosts Hiwassee College (Tenn.) for a 1 p.m. game Sunday in the Lumpkin Center. DEC. 20-24; Jan. 3 - Holiday Closing Dates
Columbus State University operations will be closed Monday-Friday, Dec. 20-24 and Monday, Jan. 3 for the holidays. These dates also apply for CSU’s Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center.

JAN. 4 – New Student Orientation at Fort Benning, West Point

Columbus State University will hold separate orientation sessions Tuesday, Jan. 4 for new students enrolled for spring 2011 classes at the university’s Fort Benning and West Point centers. The schedule

JAN. 5 – New Student Orientation on Main Campus
Columbus State University will hold an orientation open to all new students entering the university this spring on Wednesday, Jan. 5. Check-in is 8-8:30 a.m. in the Davidson Student Center game room. JAN. 8 - Nature Walk, Paleontology Talk at Oxbow Meadows

Columbus State University’s Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center hosts the following free programs on Saturday, Jan. 8:
* A guided wetlands nature walk focused on birding begins 8 a.m.  Binoculars and field guides are provided.
* A presentation on paleontology by CSU professor David Schwimmer at 10 a.m. is part of a meeting of the  Lynn Haven Wildlife Garden Club. The program is open to anyone 16 and older.

JAN.  9 - Raptor Release at Oxbow Meadows
Columbus State’s Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center hosts a raptor release demonstration
2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9 at the center, 3535 South Lumpkin Road. Experts from the Southeastern Raptor Center at Auburn University will present an informational session, followed by a release of rehabilitated birds into the wetland.
