Classes begin again at Columbus State University for the Spring 2015 semester.


JANUARY 12 – 19: Cougar Kickoff Week


Cougar Kickoff is a weeklong series of recreational and informational programs designed to welcome new students and reacquaint returnees with campus. This is the first-ever Cougar Kickoff to be held at the beginning of a spring semester. Cougar Kickoff will return for the fall semester to welcome new and returning students. NOTE: Cougar Kickoff events denoted with an asterisk (*) are NOT open to the public, but media coverage is welcome. Any other events listed here without an asterisk are open to the public.

Director Brenda May Ito and a student cast from Columbus State University will treat audiences to tall tales about Pecos Bill, John Henry, and other American legends in a production of Vivian Snipes’ “The Tallest Tale Ever Told.” Showtime begins at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan 15 at the RiverSide Theatre Complex on CSU’s RiverPark campus. Tickets for adults are $10. Tickets for seniors (60 and over) and active duty military are $8. Tickets for children (ages 12 and under) are $5. CSU students will receive one free ticket, and CSU faculty and staff will receive two free tickets. Columbus State’s College of the Arts will fill the RiverCenter’s Bill Heard Theater with sights and sounds from the CSU Philharmonic Orchestra and student cast Friday, Jan. 16 at 7:30 p.m. in an opera performance of Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro,” a timeless story of love and intrigue that will provide a rollicking theater experience for everyone.
