CSU Happenings for July 21-27

JULY 21 – SCI-FI UNDER THE STARS: STAR TREK II: WRATH OF KHAN
CSU’s Coca-Cola Space Science Center will screen “Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan” at 9 p.m. Saturday, July 21 on the south lawn outside the center, at 701 Front Ave. The program, part of the Sci-fi Under the Stars series, is free, and guests are invited to bring lawn chairs, blankets and snacks. JULY 23 – ASTRONOMY NIGHT AT CALLAWAY GARDENS
CSU’s Coca-Cola Space Science Center will stage an Astronomy Night program Monday at Callaway Gardens. The program will begin at 9 p.m. with a planetarium presentation, followed by planet viewing and stargazing. Admission is free. For more information, call 706-649-1470 or go to http://www.ccssc.org.

JULY 23-27 – WEEKLY KIDS’ SUMMER CAMPS CONTINUE
Spaces are available for the following camps presented by CSU Continuing Education:

• South of the Border (ages 7-10), 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Elizabeth Bradley Turner Center, $125: Concluding, the Catch the Summer Express series, this camp explores the land of the Aztecs, Incas and Mayans, and the truth behind the stories of El Dorado, Montezuma, and the Mummy Kings of the Incas. Participants will make a pinata, stage a Cinco de Mayo festival, design costumes, sample food prepared by guest chefs and more.

• Mars Rover (grades 3-4), 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., CSU’s Coca-Cola Space Science Center, $205: Campers will discover the uniqueness of the planets by flying Challenger missions, designing and modeling planetary surfaces, building and launching rockets, visiting the military aviation museum in Warner Robins and more.

Tennis Camp , for ages 5 and up and all skill levels, is filled. Directed by CSU Tennis Coach, Evan Isaacs, and CSU tennis squad members, the camp will run 9 a.m.-noon Monday through Thursday at CSU’s Blackmon Tennis Center.

JULY 26 – ADULT RE-ENTRY FREE SEMINAR
CSU will host a free seminar featuring information about the university’s Adult Re-Entry Program, from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, July 26 in room 254 of the Davidson Student Center. JULY 27 – ARTS EXPLORERS SUMMER CAMP EXHIBITIONS AT RANKIN
CSU Rankin Arts Center invites visitors to an exhibition at 3:30 p.m. Friday, July 27 of visual and performance art in conjunction with the Arts Explorers summer camp “Broadway” for grades k-2 and 3-5 (both sections are filled). Separately, a 6-8 p.m. exhibition will feature creative work from all Arts Explorers camps this summer. Both programs are free. Call 706-641-4000 for more information.
