JULY 24 — Honey Extraction Demonstration at Oxbow Meadows
Columbus State’s Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center hosts a demonstration on beekeeping and the process of honey extraction 1 p.m. Saturday at the center, 3535 South Lumpkin Road. The program is free and presented by Jim Harris of the Chattahoochee Valley Beekeepers. Local honey also will be available for purchase. JULY 26-30 — Final Week for Activ8, Space, Sports Camps

Monday begins the final week for Columbus State University summer camps for children and young teens  with Continuing Education’s Activ8 series, space camps at CSU’s Coca-Cola Space Science Center and sports camps coordinated by CSU’s athletic department. For more information, go to:

JULY 26 — Monday Astronomy Night Series at Callaway Gardens

Columbus State’s Coca-Cola Space Science Center hosts an Astronomy Night program of stargazing and planet viewing Monday at Callaway Gardens’ Overlook Pavilion near Pine Mountain. JULY 28 — Wild Wednesdays at Oxbow Meadows to Close with Program about Reptiles
The Columbus State University Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center Wild Wednesdays series concludes 10 a.m. Wednesday with CSU’s coordinator of middle grades education, Spencer Garrad, reading from the book Verdi. An accompanying reptile demonstration will be given by Oxbow Meadows’ herpotologist Jason Clark.  The program is $5 per child and designed for ages 5-10. However, all ages are welcome to attend. Space at the center, 3535 South Lumpkin Road, is limited and each participant must be accompanied by an adult. Call 706-687-4090 to make a reservation. JULY 29-30 — Main Campus Orientation for Freshman Commuter Students
Columbus State will hold an orientation for traditional freshmen entering CSU this fall as commuter students Thursday and Friday, July 29-30. The program follows an 8:30-10 a.m. check-in period in the University Hall gallery. Course advisement and registration on the second day will conclude the orientation. The cost is $100 per student and $70 per accompanying family member. JULY 30 – Orientation for Transfers and Nontraditional New Students

Columbus State will hold a daylong orientation on Friday, July 30 for students transferring from other schools or new students who have been away from the classroom five or more years. Check-in is 8-8:30 a.m. in the Davidson Student Center. Academic advising and course registration will close the orientation. The cost is $50 per student and $20 per accompanying family member.
