JULY 25 – Honey Collecting Demonstration
Columbus State’s Environmental Learning Center at Oxbow Meadows will present “Collecting the Honey: Extracting Honey from Hives,” a free demonstration at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 25 at the center, 3535 South Lumpkin Road., Columbus. Beekeeper Jim Harris will collect honey from the beehives at the center. Reservations are required. For more information, call 706-687-4090 or go to http://oxbow.colstate.edu.

JULY 26 – Columbus Civil Rights Era Documentary Screening
A Civil Rights era documentary film “Can Two Walk Together?” produced by CSU student Danielle Thompson and featuring testimonials by Columbus residents, will be screened from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, July 26 in the Columbus Main Library Auditorium. The documentary explores the Civil Rights era in Columbus through the words and lives of its generation’s activists, teachers, soldiers and everyday citizens. The program is free. JULY 29 - Astronomy Night at Callaway Gardens
Columbus State’s Coca-Cola Space Science Center will present an Astronomy Night program starting 9 p.m. Monday at Callaway Gardens near Pine Mountain as part of a summerlong series. AUG. 1 – Staff Council Garage Sale
The Columbus State University Staff Council will host a community garage sale Saturday, Aug, 1 in the CSU parking garage. The sale will follow a 6:30-7:30 a.m. set-up period. The public is welcome to shop or join CSU staff in selling their own items including home-baked goods. Rental space is $10 per six-foot table. The reservation deadline is noon Friday, July 31. Final Week for Kids’ Summer Camps
July 27-31 marks the final week for CSU Continuing Education’s award-winning Activ8 programs for ages 8-14 and 4-7, plus sports camps directed by CSU coaches and athletes and space science camps at CSU’s Coca-Cola Space Science Center.
