JULY 5 — Columbus State Closes for Holiday

Columbus State will close Monday, July 5 to observe the Independence Day holiday. The closing includes summer classes and summer camp activities.

JULY 5 — Astronomy Night at Callaway Gardens
Columbus State’s Coca-Cola Space Science Center will stage an evening of stargazing and planet viewing 9 p.m. Monday from Callaway Gardens’ Overlook Pavilion near Pine Mountain. The program is free and part of the center’s weekly, Monday series at Callaway. For more information, call 706-649-1470 or go to http://www.ccssc.org.

JULY 7 — Oxbow Meadows Kicks Off 'Wild Wednesdays' Activity Series for Kids
Columbus State’s Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center will open Wild Wednesdays, a weekly series for kids based on story reading, craft projects and other activities, 10 a.m. Wednesday at the center, 3535 South Lumpkin Road. For the opening program, Johanna Cabatingan from the Springer Opera House will read Oh My — A Butterfly. Afterward, participants will engage in butterfly puppet making and a butterfly hike along the Oxbow Meadows trails. The series is designed for ages 5-10. However, all ages are welcome. Each program costs $5 per child. Space is limited and each participant must be accompanied by an adult. Call 706-687-4090 to make a reservation. JULY 8 — Red Cross Blood Drive on Campus
The West Central Georgia Chapter of the American Red Cross will conduct a blood drive 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday, July 8 in the Davidson Student Center Columbus Room at CSU. JULY 10 — Astronomy Night at Roosevelt State Park
Columbus State’s Coca-Cola Space Science Center will stage an Astronomy Night program of stargazing and planet viewing from Roosevelt State Park near Pine Mountain starting 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 10. THROUGH JULY 30 — Activ8, Space, Sports Camps

Columbus State University weekly summer camps for children and young teens continues with Continuing Education’s Activ8 series, space camps at CSU’s Coca-Cola Space Science Center and sports camps coordinated by the CSU athletic department. Following the Independence Day observance, camps resume Tuesday, July 6 and run weekly through July 30. For more information, go to:
