JULY 2-3, 5 - ‘SUMMER SPECTACULAR' SERIES CONTINUES
The second week of “Summer Spectacular,” a new summer enrichment program for children ages 4-11 at River Road Elementary School in Columbus, will be in session 9 a.m.-noon Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

Directed by CSU early childhood education students and professors, the series is themed “River Works: Exploring Columbus and the Chattahoochee.” It focuses on the river, its history and its benefits to Columbus. Participants research and write about theme subtopics and bring them to life by creating displays. Parents can sign up their children for $20 per child/per week for any or all sessions. JULY 2 - ASTRONOMY NIGHT AT CALLAWAY GARDENS
CSU’s Coca-Cola Space Science Center will stage an Astronomy Night program Monday at Callaway Gardens. The program, part of a monthly series at Callaway, will begin at 9 p.m. with a planetarium presentation, followed by planet viewing and stargazing. Admission is free and open to the public. JULY 4 - CSU TO CLOSE FOR HOLIDAY
Classes and all operations will be closed at CSU on Wednesday in observance of Independence Day.

JULY 8 – OXBOW MEADOWS TO STAGE 'INSECTIVAL'
CSU’s Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center will host its eighth annual insect festival, known as “Insectival,” from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 8.

Also part of Oxbow Meadows’ Second Sunday series, the festival will include a cricket-spitting contest, roach races, insect treats (chocolate-covered crickets, insect lollipops, and seasoned mealworms), fresh honey for sale from the Chattahoochee Valley Beekeepers Association, insect exhibits, crafts, games and insect tattoos for children.
