MAY 10-14 – NCAA SOFTBALL REGIONAL AT SOUTH COMMONS
Columbus State University is hosting the 2007 NCAA South Atlantic Regional for softball, Thursday through Tuesday at South Commons Stadium. The CSU squad, with a 50-2 record, is the top-ranked team in Division II entering the tournament and is competing with seven other teams. MAY 11 - ROTC COMMISSIONING CEREMONY
CSU’s Military Science Department will hold its annual Senior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps commissioning ceremony at 10 a.m. Friday in the Davidson Student Center auditorium. ROTC students who are graduating this spring from CSU will be commissioned as U.S. Army second lieutenants. For more information, call the military science department at 706-568-2058.
MAY 11 – SENIOR ART EXHIBITION RECEPTION
CSU’s Department of Art will stage a senior art exhibition reception from 7-9 p.m. Friday in the Norman Shannon and Emmy Lou P. Illges Gallery at the Corn Center for the Visual Arts on CSU’s RiverPark campus in downtown Columbus. Admission is free. The exhibition, “Fairy Tales and Hate,” features the works of graduating CSU seniors Christie Cannon, Antonio Hardy, Janet Hammock and Roman Richards II in the mediums of oil paintings, graphic novels and computer graphics. The reception also will feature a concurrent RiverPark campus exhibition, “Laser Level,” in the Carpenter’s Hall gallery by students from the University of Georgia’s Lamar Dodd School of Art.

MAY 13 – OXBOW MEADOWS TO CELEBRATE MOTHER’S DAY
CSU’s Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center will present “Animal Mothers” as its Second Sunday Series program at 2 p.m. Sunday. This Mother’s Day program will examine motherhood in the animal kingdom and provide take-home potted plants. Admission is $2 per person and free for kids under age 3. CSU’s summer term opens Monday, with May session classes that will run through June 1.
MAY 18 - EXTENDED DEADLINE TO APPLY FOR JUNE SESSION CLASSES
CSU is extending to Friday, May 18 the admissions deadline for June session classes. The classes, from June 11 to July 26, feature courses in more than 60 subject areas.
