CSU Hires Director of Academic Marketing and Communication
COLUMBUS, Ga. - A seasoned marketing and communications professional will join Columbus State next month to more sharply focus attention on the university’s academic programs and goals.
Jeffery Dodd, currently assistant to the dean for marketing and stewardship in the College of Arts and Sciences at Western Illinois University, will become CSU’s Director of Academic Marketing and Communication on Jan. 11.
Reporting directly to Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs Inessa Levi, Dodd will develop and oversee internal programs that support and enhance university marketing efforts; develop internal communication vehicles that continually inform and update faculty, staff and students about strategic goals, the university’s brand and branding efforts; collaborate with the Office of Grants and Sponsored Programs and individual academic units; and, in concert with public relations and the web team, incorporate Web 2.0 and social media applications into the day-to-day communications of the Provost/VPAA office.
“Mr. Dodd has a great variety of skills and experience that will benefit Academic Affairs as we pursue more recognition of the academic excellence that we have here at Columbus State University,” Levi said. “He will be an asset to our operations and will greatly augment the teams we already have in place.”
While at Western Illinois for the last three and a half years, Dodd has developed marketing, public relations, fund-raising and donor stewardship activities for the university’s largest college. Before that, he was general partner and creative director for a creative firm in Louisville, Ky., that developed and executed communication, public relations and marketing projects for corporations, government economic development agencies and non-profit organizations.
He has also worked in marketing and communications positions at two other corporations in Kentucky and Indiana, and at the University of Louisville, his alma mater. Dodd has a Bachelor of Arts in English.
