CSU Honors Columbus Police Officer
COLUMBUS, Ga. -- Columbus State University has selected Columbus Police Cpl. Andy Farmer for its inaugural Criminal Justice Alumni Award.
Farmer, right, graduated from Columbus State in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He joined the Columbus Police Department the same year and served in the patrol division until October 2005, when he was promoted to detective.
He currently serves as a corporal in the robbery/homicide division.
He has earned Columbus Police Department Officer of the Month honors for June 1997, April 2004 and February 2005.
Earlier this fall, the FBI cited Farmer for his investigative work in the recently solved double homicide of Randy Newton and Bryan Kilgore.
Columbus State will present its Criminal Justice Alumni Award annually during the fall semester.
Selections are made by the Criminal Justice Department to recognize and honor CSU criminal justice graduates who have distinguished themselves in the field of criminal justice.
