CSU Names Five New Foundation Trustees

Columbus, Ga. --- At the fall meeting of the Columbus State University Foundation Board of Trustees Friday morning, five new trustees were elected to the board. The list includes the first CSU Foundation trustees from outside the Columbus region.

The new trustees are:

John F. Greenman, president and publisher of the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer and founding chairman of the Board of the Chatahoochee Valley Community Foundation. A native of Syracuse, N.Y., Greenman came to Columbus in 1995 after 20 years of journalism experience in Ohio.

Richard Allen Smith, chairman and CEO of Cendants Real Estate Division, the largest franchisor of residential and commercial real estate brokerage offices in the world, overseeing Century 21, Coldwell Banker and ERA real estate companies. Smith received his bachelors degree from Columbus College in 1975 and served on the Columbus police force. His offices are in New York City and Parsipanny, N.J.

Joe E. Whitley, a partner at Alston & Bird LLP in Atlanta. The son of Thomas Y. Whitley, the first president of Columbus College, Whitley attended college here for two years before a career that led him to being the youngest person ever to be appointed U.S. Attorney. He served as U.S. Attorney for the northern and middle districts of Georgia.

Polly Corn Miller, a Columbus native and a 1975 graduate of Columbus College with a bachelors degree in English. She is an active community leader, serving as a trustee of the Bradley-Turner Foundation and LaGrange College. She serves on the Achievement Academy Board and as co-chair of the Brookstone Booster Club. At St. Luke United Methodist Church, she is on the Altar Guild, the Respite Care Advisory Board, works at the Food Pantry and with Meals on Wheels.

William D. Reaves, owner of Reaves Wrecking, Containers by Reaves and Abatement by Reaves. He is an elder at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church and an active volunteer for CSU, having chaired CSU Day and this years annual fund campaign. A Columbus native, Reaves and his wife, Nancy, are both CSU alumni.
