CSU Offers Preview of Math Summer Camp for Girls
COLUMBUS, Ga. — The Columbus Regional Mathematics Collaborative at Columbus State University will preview its PRIME summer math camp designed for girls entering grades 6-8 from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 17 at CSU's International House at University Avenue and Clearview Circle.
Girls who attend the preview will engage in hands-on mathematics activities similar to what's in store for participants in the June 25-29 PRIME Camp. (PRIME stands for Positive Reinforcement in Math Education.) Girls will also have a chance to interact with high school mentors from the collaborative’s Math CIRCLES, which is short for Community and Industry Role Models Creating Learning Experiences.
The preview is free to all girls entering grades 6-8, but they're asked to pre-register by calling 706-568-2480, emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or by going to the Registration and Surveys link at http://ColumbusState.edu/crmc.
PRIME Camp will meet from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. each day at Columbus High School. Financial aid is available through the Columbus Regional Math Collaborative to offset the camp's $149 fee.
The CRMC, located on the third floor of CSU's Cunningham Center for Leadership Development, serves more than 17 school systems with student and teacher development services through classroom resources, workshops and more.
