CSU Professor's Irish Poem Published in International Magazine

Matthew McCabe, assistant professor of audio technology for CSU's Joyce and Henry Schwob School of Music, was recently published in an international literary magazine.

One of McCabe's poems, which was written in the Irish language, can now be found in The Galway Review. Regarded as Galway's leading literary magazine, the magazine publishes international works that include poetry, fiction, non-fiction, plays, and reviews both online and in print.

McCabe has been studying Irish for three years, and recently earned A1 certification in the language through Maynooth University's Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge (European Certificate of Irish). He attended immersion programs in County Donegal at Oideas Gael and studied with John Feeney of Fairfield University in Connecticut and Barra Ó Scannláin of the University of Alberta.

In addition to language study, McCabe also performs with the musical group Wolf & Clover, which released its first CD in February. Tracks from the CD have received airplay on nationally-syndicated radio programs in the United States as well as on stations in Scotland, England, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. The disc contains one song sung by McCabe in the Irish language, A Chailín Álainn (English: "Oh, Beautiful Girl").
