CSU to Preview Math Summer Camp for Girls
COLUMBUS, Ga. — The Columbus Regional Mathematics Collaborative at Columbus State University will preview a summer math camp designed for girls entering grades 6-8, from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 26 in CSU's International House at University Avenue and Clearview Circle.
The program will involve demonstrations and activities related to the June 20-24 camp, PRIME (Positive Reinforcement in Math Education).
Among various hands-on mathematics activities, a group of area high school girls who participated in the Math Collaborative'’s Math CIRCLES (Community and Industry Role-models Creating Learning Experiences) project over the past year will lead an activity for middle-grades girls and discuss what they have learned related to careers that apply mathematics.
PRIME Camp will meet from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. each day at Columbus High School. Financial aid is available through the Math Collaborative to offset the camp's $149 fee.
The CRMC, located in CSU's Cunningham Center for Leadership Development, serves more than 17 school systems with student and teacher development services through classroom resources, workshops and more.
