Junior Crowned Miss CSU 2014, to Represent University

COLUMBUS, Ga. — Kelsey Ray, a Columbus State University junior, was crowned Miss CSU 2014 Sunday at the annual pageant.

As Miss CSU, the special education major from Trion will represent the university at the Miss Georgia Pageant at the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts in June. Both are official preliminaries to the Miss America Scholarship Pageant.

For her talent at Sunday’s pageant, Ray accompanied herself on guitar as she sang “To Make You Feel my Love.” Ray had been second runner-up in the 2013 Miss CSU pageant. A CSU cheerleader, Ray is the daughter of Terry and Teresa Ray. She plans to attend graduate school and pursue a career in speech therapy after graduating from Columbus State.

Ray was one of eight CSU students who competed Sunday in four categories Sunday: onstage in swimsuit-fitness, talent and evening gown categories, as well as a pre-pageant interview.

Columbus State’s annual pageant this year also included an Outstanding Teen competition, featuring seven contestants within the 13-17 age range from nearby schools. Elise Higgins, an eighth-grader at Richards Middle School in Columbus, won the Outstanding Teen title.
