New Campus Dining Options Available at CSU

COLUMBUS, Ga. -- Einstein Bros. Bagels, fresh sushi and Starbucks Coffee are all new on campus as the spring 2009 semester opens at Columbus State University.

Einstein Bros. Bagels is taking over the food stop in Howard Hall and will introduce themselves to CSU by offering free samples of bagels and coffee on Monday from 8-9 a.m., Tuesday from 9-10 a.m. and Wednesday from 10-11 a.m.

The free food giveaway will be part of the new staff’s training and prepare the store to officially open to campus on Friday, Jan. 16. In addition to bagels and coffee, the shop will have sandwiches, soups, salads, espressos, cappuccinos, smoothies and desserts.

The store will be open Monday-Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Fridays from 7:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.

New fare will also be available in the Davidson Student Center as the old Patio Grille becomes the Cougars’ Den Food Court. The Food Court will have an expanded menu to include more of a Tex-Mex flair and also offer Starbucks coffee, sushi and “Hot Bowls” such as chicken teriyaki over rice.

All the changes are in response to student input, said Huma Zafar, district marketing manager for Aramark, Columbus State University’s food service provider.

“We conducted a marketing survey on campus, and we found that students were looking for something that offered more options,” she said.

More options and other changes will be coming later in the year as Aramark and CSU continue to upgrade campus dining experiences, Zafar said.
