About 300 Expected at Commencement Saturday

January 5, 2005

Columbus State University will hold its winter graduation ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8 in the Lumpkin Center on campus.

Georgia Secretary of State Cathy Cox will deliver the commencement address for approximately 300 degree recipients expected to take part in the ceremony.

In her second term, Cox is credited with initiating the states touch screen voting system and has an extensive background in law, journalism and public service. Previously she served as Assistant Secretary of State and in the State House of Representatives from 1993-96.

As is usually the case for graduation ceremonies, parking will be hard to find near the Lumpkin Center. All lots on campus will be open though, and shuttles will be running around campus all morning taking people to and from the Lumpkin Center.
