AbegazSamuelSamuel Abegaz, Columbus State associate professor of chemistry, directed an international research collaboration, which led to the publication of two research articles in Food Chemistry, Elsvier Journal. The collaboration involved five scientists from five countries across three continents.

In the first paper, “Botanical origin, colour, granulation, and sensory properties of the Harenna forest honey, Bale, Ethiopia, the analytical procedures for analysis of honey were developed and the physicochemical properties of Harenna forest honey were characterized with respect to honey moisture, sugar reduction, sucrose, water insoluble solids, ash, free acid, pH, HMF contents, electrical conductivity, and specific rotation. In the second paper,Physicochemical properties of the Harenna forest honey, Bale, Ethiopia, the Harenna forest honey samples were investigated with respect to their botanical origin, granulation, color, sensory properties, and content of tetracycline.

Abegaz has published several articles since joining CSU and currently has five more in preparation. His consistent commitment to international, national, and institutional collaboration for the advancement of scientific research contributes to increasing the visibility of Columbus State on a global stage.
