Columbus State readies for in-person graduation ceremonies this December

September 30, 2021

CSU graduates at a commencement ceremony.

Columbus State University has finalized plans to bring in-person commencement ceremonies back to its Main Campus this fall. The five ceremonies on Dec. 10 and 11 in the Lumpkin Center will honor its 2021 summer and fall semester graduates, while implementing specific COVID-19 safety protocols for the health and safety of graduates, guests and employees.

The revised commencement schedule is:

Friday, Dec. 10

College of Education and Health Professions

  • Health Professions degrees | 2 p.m.
  • Education degrees | 5 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 11

  • College of the Arts | 10 a.m.
  • Turner College of Business | 1 p.m.
  • College of Letters and Sciences | 4 p.m.

During the height of the pandemic, the university hosted drive-in ceremonies at the Columbus Civic Center for fall 2020 and spring 2021 graduates. Breaking up the university’s traditional three-ceremony format into five ceremonies avoids limiting the number of guests each graduate can invite or moving ceremonies to an outdoor location. Event density will be reduced and surfaces will be sanitized between each ceremony. CSU will continue to live-stream each commencement ceremony so families and friends unable to be on campus for these events can still share in the special day.

Additional related fall graduation events include:

Graduate Hooding Ceremony

Thursday, Dec. 9 | 6 p.m.

Lumpkin Center

ROTC Commissioning Ceremony

Friday, Dec. 10 | 9 a.m.

Cunningham Center
