As Columbus State University’s current five-year strategic plan sunsets this year, the university is beginning the process to envision goals and opportunities that will guide the institution for the next half-decade.

“The amount of change our institution — and higher education in general — has witnessed since our last plan was implemented in 2018 presents much opportunity for Columbus State, and will require an equal amount of foresight and forethought,” said Dr. Stuart Rayfield, who began her tenure as Columbus State’s sixth president on June 1.

The full committee will meet for the first time on Tuesday, Oct. 10 to begin its work. Its work through the remainder of the calendar year will include opportunities for campus and community stakeholders to hear about its progress and to provide input along the way.

Rayfield has appointed Shana Young, assistant vice president of leadership and executive director of the Leadership Institute, to lead the process and the 25-person committee comprised of students, faculty, staff, administrators and alumni. They include:
