CSU student Kate Scrivner recently was commissioned to paint a piece for the Governor incorporating the state bird and flower . Governor Brian Kemp and his wife Marty Kemp were given the gift of the painting and notecards with the same image as a gift from the city of Columbus.

“I was honored to have been thought of, when I was asked to complete this painting,” said Scrivner. “It’s really special that I’ll have a painting hung in the Governor’s Mansion, and I am glad that I was able to give him something unique and personal that would remind him of his time in Columbus.”

Scrivner is a product of the Muscogee County School System before attending CSU and is a junior majoring in Studio Arts with a focus on painting. The painting will be hung in the Governors mansion.
