CSU Chemistry Faculty, Students Present at Conference

Columbus State University professors Drs. Daniel Holley, Samuel Abegaz, Kerri Taylor and Jonathan Meyers, along with nine undergraduate students, recently presented to an international audience at the 257th National American Chemical Society Conference in Orlando, Fla.

Holley and Taylor presented in both organic chemistry and chemical education. In their chemical education talk, the two professors presented a poster that focused on "Is Flipping the Second Semester Organic Classroom an Effective Way to increase Student Learning?" Dr. Abegaz presented his research findings on "Determination of trace elements in red and white wine samples by Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy."

The undergraduate students presented on topics including medicinal chemistry , biochemistry , inorganic chemistry and organic chemistry .
