APRIL 21 CELEBRATION TO MARK READING INITIATIVE AT MUSCOGEE ELEMENTARY
A surprise celebration at 9:30 a.m. Friday will mark the close of the first eight-week session of a CSU reading program targeting at-risk, pre-kindergarten students at Muscogee Elementary, 3900 Baker Plaza. CSU communication professor Danna Gibson designed the reading program in conjunction with Columbus Literacy Alliance and the Mayor Reads initiative. APRIL 21 USG CHANCELLOR TO VISIT CAMPUS, HOLD MEDIA BRIEFING
University System of Georgia Chancellor Erroll B. Davis Jr., will hold a media briefing from 11:10-11:20 a.m. Friday in room 235 of CSU's Center for Commerce and Technology. Media also are invited to observe Davis meeting with CSU faculty at 10:30 a.m. that morning in the Center for Commerce and Technology auditorium. Davis visit is his first to CSU and part of a tour of the university systems 35 institutions that will conclude in June. Davis assumed his chancellor duties in February. APRIL 22 - COLLOQUIUM TO SHOWCASE BEST OF CSU-STUDENT RESEARCH, CREATIVE PROJECTS
Columbus State University will stage its fifth annual CSU Student Colloquium from 8:30 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. Saturday on the second and third floors of the Center for Commerce and Technology. About 30 presentations will spotlight the best of CSU-student research and creative projects over the past year. The free event is open to the public and sponsored by the CSU Honors Program. APRIL 22-23 NCAA BASEBALL: CSU VS. LANDER
The Columbus State University baseball team will host Lander University for games at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday, April 22 and 1 p.m. Sunday, April 23 at Ragsdale Field. General admission is $5, $3 for students and free for military personnel and CSU students, faculty and staff, with appropriate ID. APRIL 24 - CSU GUITAR ENSEMBLE TO PERFORM
Columbus State Universitys Schwob School of Music will present a Guitar Ensemble performance 7:30 p.m. Monday in the RiverCenter's Legacy Hall. General admission is $5 and free for CSU faculty, staff and students. For tickets, call 706-256-3600.

APRIL 25 COLLEGE OF EDUCATION AWARDS CEREMONY TO INCLUDE LOCAL TEACHER HONORS
Columbus State University will hold its annual College of Education and Alumni Association Awards Banquet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Elizabeth Bradley Turner Center. In addition to top students and faculty, the college will recognize its graduates who have won teacher of the year honors at their respective schools in the Muscogee County School District. Also, the following alumni will be inducted as the second class in the College of Education Hall of Fame: Midland Middle School Choral Director Jan Hyatt, Academic Success Center reading teacher Leslie Robertson and CSU educational leadership professor and former Phenix City Public Schools Superintendent Tom Hackett.
