APRIL 18 – ‘Music of Radiohead’ Lecture by Resident Composer Guitarist
Carlos Rafael Rivera, a resident composer at CSU, will lecture on “The Music of Radiohead,” at 4 p.m. Friday in RiverCenter room 1714. Rivera, a Carson McCullers Resident Composer in Guitar, is internationally known as cross-cultural folk musician. His recordings include performances on feature soundtracks for Lionsgate Films. The program is free and open to the public and sponsored by CSU’s Carson McCullers Center for Writers and Musicians. For more information, call 706-565-4021.

APRIL 18-19 – NCAA Baseball: CSU to Host Armstrong Atlantic State
The CSU baseball squad will host Armstrong Atlantic State for games at 7 p.m. Friday, April 18 and 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday at Ragsdale Field. APRIL 18-20 – Cabaret Theatre
CSU’s Schwob School of Music will present “Cabaret Theatre,” a song and dance revue, April 18-20 in RiverCenter’s Studio Theatre. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. Sunday. Six CSU voice performance majors will perform a revue of singing and dancing styles from Broadway, Hollywood, blues, and standard cabaret and jazz. The April 18 performance begins with a champagne, coffee and dessert social and admission is $20 per person. Saturday and Sunday admission is $5 and free with CSU ID. APRIL 19 – CSU Graduate School Open House

APRIL 21 – Guitar Studio Recital
CSU’s Schwob School of Music will present a recital by musicians from the CSU Guitar Studio at 7:30 p.m. Monday in RiverCenter’s Legacy Hall. Also at 7:30 p.m., Jeff Oldham will perform in a studion recital in Studio Theatre. Admission to both performances is free. APRIL 22 – Student Art Exhibition Closing Reception

APRIL 21-22 - Candidate for CSU President to Visit Campus
The third of seven candidates to become CSU’s next president, Kaylene A. Gebert, executive vice president and provost for Middle Tennessee State University, will appear on campus for a series of interviews and meetings including public forums at 4 p.m. Monday and 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. APRIL 23 – Relay for Life Kick-Off Event

April 24 – Film Screening Fund-Raiser: ‘Invisible Children’
CSU’s Department of Communication will screen “Invisible Children” at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 24 in the International House at Clearview Circle and University Avenue. The 2004 documentary, by three young filmmakers from California, depicts the plight of children in northern Uganda who are forced to fight as soldiers as part of a government resistance. Admission is $1 or more as a donation to support Invisible Children, Inc., an organization founded by the filmmakers to aid northern Uganda’s displaced children. APRIL 25 – Retired Commander to Recount Vietnam Prison Raid
Retired Maj. Dan Turner will recount the 1970 Son Tay raid to rescue POWs in North Vietnam in a presentation from 9-10 a.m. Friday, April 25 in the Stanley Hall auditorium. Turner commanded the Redwine Security Group, a joint squad from the Army Green Berets and Air Force Special Operations, which executed the raid only to find the POWs had been moved. However, subsequent events proved the audacity and precision of the mission stunned the North Vietnamese, who implemented immediate changes in the treatment of their captives. Turner, who works with the Human Research and Engineering Directorate Field Office on Fort Benning, earned the Silver Star for the mission. APRIL 25 – College of Education to Host Family Entertainment Fund-Raiser
CSU’s College of Education will stage an inaugural “Spring Fling” from 4-8 p.m. Friday, April 25 at the Mock Pavilion and intramural fields at University Avenue and Clearview Circle. The event targets families and will feature air rockets and solar telescope viewing, a dunking booth, speed croquet, big slides, a football throw, basketball shoot out, karaoke, face painting, a silent auction and more. Hand stamps for unlimited activity participation are $10 per person or $50 for a family pack. Non-participants are welcome at no charge and food and drinks will be sold. APRIL 25 – ‘Poetry Slam’ at McCullers House
The CSU Writing Center will host its second annual “Wham Bam Poetry Slam” at 7 p.m. Friday, April 25 in the Carson McCullers House at 1519 Stark Avenue, Columbus.
