AUG. 16 - Move-In Day for Main Campus Housing
CSU faculty, staff, alumni and student volunteers will help move students into their
assigned apartments by participating in Residence Life’s Move-In-Day starting 9 a.m.
Saturday at the main campus Courtyard apartments at University Avenue and College

AUG. 17 – Piano Sale at RiverCenter
Steinway Piano Galleries of Atlanta is coordinating a public sale of Schwob School
of Music pianos from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday at CSU’s Saunders Center for Music Studies
in the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts. The inventory ranges in price from $30,000
to $599 . The sale includes $690 digital models, plus uprights and grands of various
sizes and brand names, including Yamaha, Steinway, Everett and Roland. Credit card

AUG. 18-23 - Space Science Center to Close for Lobby Installation
CSU’s Coca Cola Space Science Center will close its lobby Monday through Saturday
as workers install a new lobby attraction, a “Magic Planet” digital globe. The interactive
exhibit will allow visitors to view and explore dynamic digital images of the Earth,
other planets and various space-related images. For more information, call 706-649-1477.
AUG. 18 - CSU to Close Mid-Day for President’s First University Address
CSU operations will close from 11:15 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Monday for President Tim Mescon’s
first address to CSU faculty and staff in the University Hall auditorium. The occasion
is part of the annual “University Meeting” of CSU personnel to kick off the new school
year. Mescon, whose CSU tenure officially started Aug. 1, will speak after employee
service award presentations. The university’s annual “Welcome Back Luncheon” for faculty
and staff will follow, from 12:30-1:30 p.m., in the Lumpkin Center. Call 706-568-2029

AUG. 19 - ‘Kids to College’ Pep Rally
More than 1,600 fifth-graders from Muscogee and Harris counties and Fort Benning
will gather from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday for a “Kids to College” pep rally in CSU’s Lumpkin
Center. Staged by CSU Enrollment Services and the College of Education, the event
is designed to instill an awarenesss of higher education in participating students.
Presentations will be made by College of Education Dean David Rock and CSU women’s
soccer squad members. The program also will involve competitions: basketball and soccer
shoot-outs and CSU cheerleader push-ups. A cheerleaders’ performance will close the

AUG. 18 and AUG. 25 - Auditions for Voices of the Valley Children’s Choir
CSU’s Continuing Education Music Conservatory and the Schwob School of Music will
hold auditions by appointment for the Voices of the Valley Community Children’s Choir
on Monday and the following Monday at CSU’s Saunders Center for Music Studies in
RiverCenter for the Performing Arts. The auditions, open to boys and girls ages 9-14,
will involve a 10-minute interview for basic vocal aptitude. To make an appointment,
call 706-507-8070. The choir will rehearse at 7 p.m. Mondays from Sept. 15-Nov. 22.

AUG. 21 - RiverPark Campus ‘Welcome Back Picnic’
CSU’s Student Life division will stage a “Welcome Back Picnic” for RiverPark campus
students, faculty and staff from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Thursday at Woodruff Park between
Dillingham Street and Bay Avenue. The CSU mascot, Cody, a music DJ and the CSU cheerleading
squad will entertain the gathering, and the event will feature commemorative T-shirts,
airbrush tattoos, food and beverages, snow cones provided by ROTC and mist machines
outside the main tent. Student organization representatives also will be on hand to

AUG. 23 - Sci-Fi Under the Stars Double Feature
CSU’s Coca-Cola Space Science Center will screen both “When Worlds Collide” and
“It Came from Outer Space” starting 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23 on the center’s south
lawn. The program is free and part of the center’s Sci-Fi Under the Stars series.
Guests are invited to bring snacks, lawn chairs and bug spray. For more information,
