AUG. 2 – Astronomy Night at Providence Canyon
CSU’s Coca-Cola Space Science Center will stage an Astronomy Night program at 9 p.m.
Saturday at Providence Canyon State Park near Lumpkin. The program is free. For more

AUG. 4 – Astronomy Night at Callaway Gardens
CSU’s Coca-Cola Space Science Center concludes its Monday evening Astronomy Night
series at 9 p.m at Callaway Gardens’ Overlook Pavilion in Pine Mountain. The program

AUG. 8 – Fall 2008 Application Deadline
Friday, Aug. 8 is the final day to apply for fall 2008 enrollment at Columbus State

AUG. 10 – Second Sunday: Frogs, Toads and Salamanders
CSU’s Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center will present “Frogs, Toads and
Salamanders Alive” at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10 as part of its Second Sunday Series.
Roosevelt State Park interpretive ranger Sam McDuffie will present the program, which
will feature local amphibians, including Oxbow’s giant bullfrog. Guests can decorate
a take-home clay pot “condo” for backyard toads.

AUG. 11 – Free Seminar for Prospective Nontraditional College Students
CSU’s Adult Re-Entry Program will host a free seminar from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday,
Aug. 11 in the Davidson Student Center Columbus Room. The program will feature information
for adults who are considering attending college as nontraditional students. Light

AUG. 13 - Orientation for Nontraditional Students
CSU will hold an orientation for nontraditional freshmen and transfer students on
Wednesday, Aug. 13. Check-in is from 8-9 a.m. in the Davidson Student Center game
room. Cost of the daylong program is $40 per student and $15 per guest. For more

AUG. 14 or AUG. 15 - Orientation for Commuter Students
New CSU freshmen who will not reside in university housing have two final opportunities
to attend a CSU orientation for fall 2008, on Thursday, Aug. 14 and Friday, Aug.
15. Check-in will be from 8-9 a.m. in University Hall for both programs. The cost
each day is $40 per student and $15 per guest. Participants have an opportunity to
meet other new students, explore campus resources and organizations, learn academic
policies and procedures and distinguish between academic myths and facts. For reservations,
