FEB. 9 – Gardening with the Masters: It’s Time to ... Consider Your Gardening Space
Columbus State’s Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center will hold its Gardening with the Masters Series at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9 at the center, 3535 South Lumpkin Road. The topic this week is how to make the most of your gardening space. Learn from Valley Master Gardeners how to do that using containers, vertical gardens and the square foot raised bed principle. Patio plants, window boxes, decorative urns and veggies fit in more places than you think. Learn to garden small with big results. Admission is $15 . FEB. 11-12 – NCAA Baseball
Columbus State’s baseball squad continues its 2012 season with the following home games at Ragsdale Field against St. Leo at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11 and 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12. FEB.10-11 – NCAA Softball
Columbus State’s softball squad continues its 2012 season with four Hughston Sports Classic games at Cougar Field, facing West Alabama University at noon and Lenoir-Rhyne at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, then facing the next day Lenoir-Rhyne at 1 p.m. and Augusta State at 5 p.m. Admission is $5 per person, $3 for ages 12 and younger, and free for CSU students, faculty and staff with ID. FEB. 11– The True Story of Cinderella
Columbus State’s Schwob School of Music will perform The True Story of Cinderella at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11 at the RiverCenter’s Legacy Hall. With words and music by Warren Martin, this vocal concert features 12 Schwob School of Music voice students. The familiar tale takes some unexpected turns. Admission is free. FEB. 12 – Second Sunday: Raptor Release
Columbus State’s Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center will hold its Second Sunday: Raptor Release at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12 at the center, 3535 South Lumpkin Road. The staff of Oxbow Meadows welcomes Auburn University's Southeastern Raptor Center for a program on birds of prey followed by the release of a rehabilitated raptor into the wetlands. Admission is $3. 

FEB. 13– Cone Voice Studio Recital
Columbus State’s Schwob School of Music will highlight a recital featuring the students of Kimberly Cone at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13 at the RiverCenter’s Legacy Hall. Admission is free. For more information, call 706-649-7225. 

FEB. 16 – Gardening with the Masters: It’s Time to ... Prepare Your Soil
Columbus State’s Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center will hold its Gardening with the Masters Series at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16 at the center, 3535 South Lumpkin Road, focusing this week on soil preparation. Learn from Valley Master Gardeners how pH and fertility can affect plant growth. This class will also give students a better understanding of why it’s important to test soil, how to do it and how to amend soil for maximum growth potential. Admission is $15 . At 5 p.m., McCullers scholar Cathy Fussell reads from Reflections in a Golden Eye. There’s also a 3 p.m. screening Lady of Burlesque and a 7:30 p.m. lecture by Sherill Tippins, author of 2005’s February House.

FEB. 18 – Flying WILD
Columbus State’s Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center will host Flying WILD at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18 at the center, 3535 South Lumpkin Road. This is a conservation program for middle-school educators designed to harness children's natural fascination with birds. Admission is $20 . FEB. 18– Benjamin Broening and Matthew McCabe Electroacoustic Composer Concert
Columbus State’s Schwob School of Music presents a concert by Benjamin Broening and Matthew McCabe, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16 at the RiverCenter’s Studio Theater. McCabe, a CSU faculty artist, and Broening, a University of Richmond composition professor, present an evening of cutting-edge music selected from each composer's catalog. Features include electroacoustic music, works for video and appearances by Schwob School of Music instrumental faculty. FEB. 18 –Documentary Screening: Ghost Bird
Columbus State’s Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center will host a screening of Ghost Bird at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19 at the center, 3535 South Lumpkin Road. This documentary explores claims of rediscovery of the Ivory-billed woodpecker, followed by on-site participation in the Great Backyard Bird Count. Admission is free.

 FEB. 19– LegacyLive! Fine Arts String Quartet
Columbus State’s Schwob School of Music presents the Fine Arts String Quartet as its next LegacyLive! Performer, with a concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19 at the RiverCenter’s Legacy Hall. The Fine Arts String Quartet joins the Schwob School of Music for a performance as part of its 65th anniversary tour.  Featuring music by Mozart, Glass, and Schubert, the quartet is joined by faculty artist Wendy Warner on cello in a performance of Schubert’s String Quintet in C Major.
