JAN. 10-11 - Bird Walks at Oxbow Meadows Columbus State's Oxbow Meadows
Environmental Learning Center will host the first in a series of January-weekend 'Bird Walks' from 8-9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday at the center, 3535 South Lumpkin Road. Visiting ornithologist Andrea Lindsay will guide the walks along the center's trails. The cost is $4 per person, and the program is designed for adults and children ages 10 and older. JAN. 10 - Researcher to Present Findings on Migratory Songbird
Visiting ornithologist Andrea Lindsay will present 'A Tale of Two Seasons: Do Winter Habitat Conditions Affect Reproductive Success in Yellow Warblers?' at 1 p.m. Saturday at Columbus State's Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center, 3535 South Lumpkin Road, Columbus. Lindsay has studied the yellow warbler, North America's most abundant breeding wood-warbler, and will present her findings during the program. Admission is $5. JAN. 10 - CSU-Francis Marion NCAA Basketball Doubleheader
Columbus State will host Francis Marion for a pair of NCAA basketball games on Saturday in the Lumpkin Center. The women's contest tips off at 2 p.m., followed by the men at 4 p.m. Admission prices are $5 for adults; $3 for students/kids ; and free for ages 5 and under and CSU students, faculty and staff with ID. JAN. 12 - Spring Semester Classes Begin

JAN. 12 - Piano and Percussion Duo
Columbus State's Schwob School of Music will stage a Piano and Percussion Duo concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday in RiverCenter's Legacy Hall. Faculty percussionist Paul Vaillancourt and guest pianist Jeff Meyer will premiere works by composers such as Chen Yi, Brian Cherney, Dan Koonts, Jim David and Brook Joyce. The program also will feature a film by Columbus State art professor Robert Land. Admission is $5; $2 for senior citizens, military personnel and non-CSU students; and free with CSU ID. JAN. 15 - MLK Day Observance
Columbus State will observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a ceremony at 12:30 p.m. Thursday in the Davidson Student Center Columbus Room. The keynote speaker will be Pastor James E. JAN. 15-18 - Family Theatre Production
CSU Theatre will stage Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day Jan. 15-18 at CSU Theatre on the Park, Mainstage on the RiverPark campus in downtown Columbus. JAN. 17 – Oxbow Meadows: Expert to Speak on Bachman's Sparrow
Visiting ornithologist James Tucker will present 'Bachman's Sparrow, Fire and the Longleaf Pine Ecosystem' at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17 at Columbus State's Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center, 3535 South Lumpkin Road, Columbus. Tucker, from the Archbold Biological Station in Central Florida, will discuss the ground-nesting sparrow — a threatened species — and its habitat, which depends on frequent fires to maintain its diversity.
