JAN. 7 – Spring Semester Opens With First Day of Classes
JAN. 7 – International Film Series Screening: ‘Children of Men’
CSU’s Center for International Education will screen “Children of Men” at 7 p.m.
Monday in the International House at 6 Clearview Circle. This 2006 science fiction
film is set in an apocalyptic England of 2027 and explores a grim world in which two
decades of global human infertility have left humanity with less than a century to
survive. In the midst of this setting, Theo Faron must find safe transit for Kee
, a pregnant African refugee.

JAN. 8 - Adult Study Skills Refresher Course Begins
CSU’s Adult Re-Entry program will offer an adult study skills refresher course Jan.
8-Feb. 28. Sessions will run 6:30-8:45 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays in Howard 107.
The course, CSUS 1105, will review and update skills in reading, writing and math
and provide an extensive orientation to CSU policies, procedures, services and opportunities.
The course costs $110 and does not require admission to the university. Completion
provides one hour of academic credit upon CSU enrollment. For more information, contact

JAN. 8 - Schwob School of Music to Present ‘Mozartiana’
CSU’s Schwob School of Music will present a concert titled “Mozartiana” at 7:30 p.m.
Tuesday in RiverCenter’s Legacy Hall. The program will feature sonatas composed by
Mozart and performed by Gabriela Diaz, violin; Betty Anne Diaz, piano; Manuel Diaz,
viola; and Andre Gaskins, cello. Gabriela Diaz, a New England Conservatory of Music
graduate student, is the daughter Betty Anne and Manuel Diaz, both Schwob School of
Music faculty members. Admission to Mozartiana is free. For more information, call

JAN. 10 — Voice Recital by Guest Artist Nancy Walker
CSU’s Schwob School of Music will present a voice recital by soprano Nancy Walker
at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10 in RiverCenter’s Legacy Hall. Walker, from the music
faculty at the University of North Carolina Greensboro, has performed at Carnegie
Hall and the Kennedy Center. Admission to her CSU performance is free. For more information,

JAN. 12 – Visitation Day For Prospective Students
The CSU Admissions Office will hold a Visitation Day for high school students and
their parents on Saturday, Jan. 12. The event will open in the Lumpkin Center at 9
a.m. and provide an opportunity for participants to tour campus, meet current CSU
students and speak with professors.
