JULY 10-11 - Residence Life Orientation
CSU will stage an overnight Residence Life orientation on Thursday and Friday for fall 2008 new students who will live in university housing on main campus. Check-in is from 1-2:30 p.m. Thursday in University Hall. The program includes meals, evening entertainment, an overnight stay in CSU’s Courtyard apartments and math placement testing from 8-11 a.m. Friday, July 11. . With off-campus overnight lodging, parents’ activities include a bus tour of CSU’s RiverPark campus. The cost is $85 per student and $60 per family member. For reservations, call 706-568-2330. JULY 10-12, 17-18 - Visiting Artist Exhibition
CSU’s Department of Art is hosting “Night Tracks, Day Tracks,” a chronological series of drawings and photographs by Auburn University faculty artist Barb Bondy, 1-4 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, July 10-13 and Thursday and Friday, July 17-18 in the Norman Shannon and Emmy Lou P. Illges Gallery at 6 West 10th Street, Columbus. The exhibition depicts the dualities of night and day as a metaphor for the conscious and unconscious states of mind. Gallery admission is free. JULY 11 – Quarterly Sales Luncheon at CSU
Sales professionals are invited to the July Quarterly Sales Luncheon from 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, July 11 at CSU’s Cunningham Sales Institute in the Cunningham Center. The guest speaker is Brian Hicks, state training coordinator for Aflac. The luncheons are held the second Friday of each quarter, and are designed for sales professionals at all levels, including sales managers. JULY 13 - Insectival at Oxbow Meadows
CSU’s Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center will stage its ninth annual “Insectival” from noon-4 p.m. Sunday, July 13 at the center, 3535 South Lumpkin Rd., Columbus. Activities will include up close viewing of water and land bugs, craftmaking, roach racing, cricket-spitting contests and the Chattahoochee Valley Beekeepers Association will sell fresh honey. JULY 14 - Orientation for Non-Traditional Students
CSU will hold an orientation for non-traditional freshmen and transfer students on Monday, July 14. Check-in is from 8-9 a.m. in the Davidson Student Center game room. JULY 14 - Astronomy Night at Callaway Gardens
CSU’s Coca-Cola Space Science Center continues its Monday evening Astronomy Night series at 9 p.m Monday at Callaway Gardens’ Overlook Pavilion in Pine Mountain. Programs are free and start at 9 p.m. For more information, call 706-649-1470 or go to http://www.ccssc.org.

JULY 14-16- Basketball Shooters Camp
CSU basketball coaches and players will conduct a basketball shooters camp for boys and girls ages 12 and up from 6-9 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, July 14-16 at the Lumpkin Center. JULY 14-18 - Space Camps: ‘Space-O-Rama’
CSU’s Coca-Cola Space Science Center continues its series of space camps with “Space-O-Rama” for ages 5-7, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 14-18, at the center, 701 Front Ave., Columbus. JULY 14-18 – ‘Activ8’ Summer Camps
Continuing Education’s “Activ8” series of weekly enrichment camps for kids resumes July 7-11 on CSU’s main campus. There is no registration deadline as spaces are open for several of the camps listed below, that will run Monday through Friday in various categories and range is fees from $79-$95:

All Activ8 campers can eat lunches brought from home or purchase a meal during a supervised lunch hour in the Davidson Student Center cafeteria. Also, for a small, added fee, “before care” and “after care” services are available as parents can drop off campers anytime after 7 a.m. and pick them up any time until 6 p.m. Space is limited, and the schedule could change. JULY 15 - Fall Orientation for Commuter Students
CSU will hold daylong orientation on Tuesday, July 15 for fall 2008 new students who will not reside in university housing. Check-in will be from 8-9 a.m. in University Hall . The cost of program is $40 per student and $15 per guest. Participants have an opportunity to meet other new students, explore campus resources and organizations, learn academic policies and procedures, and distinguish between academic myths and facts. JULY 15 – Seminar for Faculty-Staff: ‘Returning Veterans: Implications for Higher Education’
CSU’s Office of Veteran Affairs will present an online video seminar, “Returning Veterans: Implications for Higher Education,” for faculty and staff from 12:45-2:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 15 in Center for Commerce and Technology auditorium.

The seminar will examine the impact of returning troops on higher education and strategies for campuses to help veterans succeed both academically and personally.
