JULY 19 — Astronomy Night Series at Callaway GardensColumbus State’s Coca-Cola Space Science Center hosts an Astronomy Night program of stargazing and planet viewing Monday at Callaway Gardens’ Overlook Pavilion near Pine Mountain. JULY 21 — Wild Wednesdays at Oxbow Meadows: ‘Bag in the Wind’
The Columbus State University Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center weekly
Wild Wednesdays series continues 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 21 with local author and
musician Rusty Taylor reading from the book Bag in the Wind. An accompanying craft
project will involve decorating reusable cloth grocery bags. The program is $5 per
child and designed for ages 5-10. However, all ages are welcome to attend. Space
at the center, 3535 South Lumpkin Road, is limited and each participant must be

JULY 22-23 – Main Campus Residence Life Orientation
Columbus State holds an orientation Thursday and Friday, July 22-23, for new students
entering CSU this fall and residing in main campus apartments. Check-in is 8:30-10
a.m. in the University Hall gallery. Academic advisement and course registration
on the second day will conclude the orientations. The cost is $100 per student and
$70 per accompanying family member. Guests should arrange off-campus accommodations.

JULY 24 — Honey Extraction Demonstration at Oxbow Meadows
Columbus State’s Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center hosts a demonstration
on beekeeping and the process of honey extraction 1 p.m. Saturday, July 24 at the
center, 3535 South Lumpkin Road. The program is free and presented by Jim Harris
of the Chattahoochee Valley Beekeepers. Local honey also will be available for purchase.

THROUGH JULY 30 — Activ8, Space, Sports Camps
Columbus State University weekly summer camps for children and young teens continues
with Continuing Education’s Activ8 series, space camps at CSU’s Coca-Cola Space Science
Center and sports camps coordinated by the CSU athletic department. Following the
Independence Day observance, camps resume Tuesday, July 6 and run weekly through
