JUNE 18-19 – Residence Life Orientation
Columbus State will hold a Thursday-Friday overnight Residence Life Orientation for
new fall 2009 students who will live in the main campus Courtyard I apartments. Checkin
is 1-2:30 p.m. Thursday at University Hall and the program will begin in the University
Hall auditorium. Fees are $85 per student, $60 per guest or family member and cover
four meals, materials, professional entertainment and the student’s overnight stay
in a campus apartment. Guests also will take a bus tour of CSU’s downtown RiverPark
campus. Students who are told they should take CSU's math placement test should come
early to take that test from 8-11 a.m. in the Turner Center, enabling them to register

JUNE 19-20 – Bibb City Oral History Dramatization and Exhibition
Columbus State University, with the Chattahoochee Shakespeare Company, will stage
the final presentations of “Bibb City: Collected Lives from a Mill Town,” an exhibition
and oral history dramatization, at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the CSU Theatre on
the Park Studio. There is no admission price, but donations supporting the Chattahoochee
Shakespeare Company will be collected at the door. To access the entire project online,

JUNE 20 – CSU Staff Council Garage Sale
The Columbus State University Staff Council will host a garage sale from 8 a.m.-2
p.m. Saturday at the university’s parking garage next to the Lumpkin Center. Hot dogs

JUNE 20 – Astronomy Night at Roosevelt State Park
CSU’s Coca-Cola Space Science Center will stage an Astronomy Night program starting
9 p.m. Saturday at Roosevelt State Park near Pine Mountain. The program is free. For

JUNE 22 - Astronomy Night at Callaway Gardens
Columbus State’s Coca-Cola Space Science Center will present an Astronomy Night program
9 p.m. at Callaway Gardens near Pine Mountain as part of a summerlong series. The
evening of stargazing and planet viewing at Overlook Pavilion is free. For more information,

JUNE 23 - Fall Orientation for Commuter Students
Columbus State will hold a daylong orientation on Tuesday, June 23 for fall 2009
new students who will not reside in university housing. Checkin is 8-9 a.m. in University
Hall. Cost per student is $42, $17 per adult and $11 per child family member. The
fees cover materials and meals. Participants have an opportunity to meet other new
students, explore campus resources and organizations, learn academic policies and
procedures, and distinguish between academic myths and facts. For reservations or

JUNE 25 – Lunch and Learn with Author Billie Jane McIntosh
The CSU Archives and the Muscogee Genealogical Society will co-host a Lunch and Learn
program at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 25 in the CSU International House at University
Avenue and Clearview Circle. Billie Jane McIntosh will talk about her book, From Georgia
Tragedy to Oklahoma Frontier: A Biography of Scots Creek Indian Chief Chilly McIntosh.
The author is the granddaughter of Chilly McIntosh and great granddaughter of Chief
William McIntosh, who lived at Fort Mitchell. She will speak from noon-1 p.m. The
program is free and includes light lunch refreshments. For more information, call

Columbus State will hold a new student orientation Friday, June 26 for non-traditional

Southern Watercolor Exhibition
The 32nd Annual Southern Watercolor Exhibition is open through June 26 in the Corn
Center for the Visual Arts’ Illges Gallery on CSU’s downtown RiverPark campus. Columbus
State, plus CSU Friends of Art and the Southern Watercolor Society, are co-hosting
the event. A portion of the exhibition sales’ proceeds will benefit CSU’s art scholarship
fund. Gallery hours are 11a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday.

Weekend Bird Walks at Oxbow Meadows
Columbus State’s Environmental Learning Center at Oxbow Meadows is hosting “Bird
Walks” at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. every Saturday and Sunday at the center, 3535 South Lumpkin
Road, Columbus. The program is free and designed for adults and children ages 10 and

Kids’ Summer Camps
Throughout the summer, CSU’s Continuing Education division coordinates summer camps
on a weekly basis, including its award-winning Activ8 programs for ages 8-14 and
4-7, plus sports camps directed by CSU coaches and athletes and space science camps
