JUNE 30 and JULY 7 - Astronomy Night at Callaway Gardens
CSU’s Coca-Cola Space Science Center continues its Monday evening Astronomy Night series at 9 p.m Monday at Callaway Gardens’ Overlook Pavilion in Pine Mountain. Programs are free and start at 9 p.m. For more information, call 706-649-1470 or go to http://www.ccssc.org.

JULY 4 - CSU Offices to Close
CSU will close its offices for the Independence Day holiday on Friday, July 4.

JULY 7-11 - Space Camps: ‘So You Want to be an Astronaut?’
CSU’s Coca-Cola Space Science Center resumes its series of space camps with “So You Want to be an Astronaut?” for ages 8-10, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 7-11 at the center, 701 Front Ave., Columbus. Campers will fly Challenger missions and fighter jet simulators, design and build aliens, explore robotics and aeronautics, build and launch model rockets and more. The fee is $205. JULY 7-11 – ‘Activ8’ Summer Camps
Continuing Education’s “Activ8” series of weekly enrichment camps for kids resumes July 7-11 on CSU’s main campus. There is no registration deadline as spaces are open for several of the camps that will run Monday through Friday in various categories :

A separate camp for ages 5-7, “North America: Land of the Free,” is full and closed. Its activities will cover games from the past including hop scotch, jacks and pass the bean; magic; foods; and subjects related to the year 1899. Other Activ8 camp fees range from $79-$95. All campers can eat lunches brought from home or purchase a meal during a supervised lunch hour in the Davidson Student Center cafeteria. Also, for a small, added fee, “before care” and “after care” services are available as parents can drop off campers anytime after 7 a.m. and pick them up any time until 6 p.m.

JULY 7-11 – Cheerleading Camp
CSU will stage its 35th annual Cheerleading Camp for ages 4-14, from 9 a.m.-noon, Monday-Friday, July 7-11 at the Lumpkin Center. The camp will close with a Friday pep rally performed by campers for their family members and other guests. CSU cheerleaders from national championship-winning squads in 2004, 2005 and 2008 will provide instruction. The cost is $85 per person. JULY 10-11 - Residence Life Orientation
CSU will stage an overnight, residence life orientation on Thursday and Friday, July 10-11 for fall 2008 new students who will reside in university housing on main campus. Check-in is from 1-2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 10 in University Hall. The program includes meals, evening entertainment, an overnight stay in CSU’s Courtyard apartments and math placement testing from 8-11 a.m. Friday, July 11 . With off-campus overnight lodging, parents’ activities include a bus tour of CSU’s RiverPark campus. The cost is $85 per student and $60 per family member. For reservations, call 706-568-2330. JULY 13 - Insectival at Oxbow Meadows
CSU’s Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center will stage its ninth annual “Insectival” from noon-4 p.m. Sunday, July 13 at the center, 3535 South Lumpkin Rd., Columbus. Activities will include up close viewing of water and land bugs, craftmaking, roach racing, cricket-spitting contests and the Chattahoochee Valley Beekeepers Association will sell fresh honey. JULY 14 - Orientation for Non-Traditional Students
CSU will hold an orientation for non-traditional freshmen and transfer students on Monday, July 14. Check-in is from 8-9 a.m. in the Davidson Student Center game room.
