June 7 – Holocaust Survivor to Speak at International House
Cheri Rosenstein, who lost both parents during the Holocaust, will speak at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 7 at Columbus State University’s International House about her earliest memories and life after being adopted and brought to America. Rosenstein was 5 years old in 1948 when she began her life as an American, leaving a Paris orphanage that was her home after her parents perished at Bergen Belsen, one of the Nazi concentration camps during the Holocaust. Rosenstein's talk is free and open to the public.

June 8 – The Great American Trailer Park Musical
The Columbus State University Repertory Theater will stage a production of The Great American Trailer Park Musical, beginning Friday, June 8 and running through Saturday, June23 at the Riverside Theater Complex at 6 West 10^th St. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. each day, with 2 p.m. performances on June 10 and June 17. There's a new tenant at Armadillo Acres, and she's wreaking havoc all over Florida's most exclusive trailer park. When Pippi, a stripper on the run, comes between the Dr. Phil-loving, agoraphobic Jeannie and her tollbooth collector husband, the storms begin to brew.  Adult tickets are $18.  Children , seniors , and active-duty military tickets are $15. June 10 – Insectival at Oxbox Meadows
The 12^th annual Insectival will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, June 10 at Columbus State University’s Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center. Insectival is designed to show visitors just how important insects are for a healthy environment. But Insectival is disguised as a fun, family event, and visitors will be able to experience insects in a variety of ways. Visitors can hold them, eat them, watch them or even spit them. There will be an assortment of bug snacks, and a cricket-spitting contest among the many activities planned. Admission to Insectival is $3 per person. For more information, call 706-507-8550.

June 11 – First Day of Summer Term
Columbus State students attending summer school will begin their June term classes on Monday, June 11.

June 12 – Carolyn Hove Recital
CSU’s Schwob School of Music will host an English horn recital by Carolyn Hove, one of the world’s leading English hornists, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 12 in RiverCenter’s Legacy Hall. Hove, a solo English horn player with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra since 1988, will perform a recital of English horn literature, including works by Hindemith, Musgrave and Ravel, to kick off a week of master classes on playing English horn orchestral and solo repertoire.  She will be joined by Schwob faculty artists Susan Tomkiewicz and Yien Wang . The trio will perform the world premiere of professor Fred Cohen's new composition for oboe, English horn and piano. June 12 – Dora the Explorer Live! Dora’s Pirate Adventure
The Columbus State University Repertory Theater will stage a production of Dora the Explorer Live! Dora’s Pirate Adventure, beginning Tuesday, June 12 and running through Saturday, June 23 at the Riverside Theater Complex at 6 West 10^th St. Showtimes are 10 a.m. each day, with 2 p.m. performance on June 24. Dora, her best buddy Boots the Monkey, and the rest of their friends embark on an exciting trip to Treasure Island. The audience helps them navigate over Dancing Mountain and through Silly Singing Bridge to confront the Pirate Piggies. Along the way, the audience will use their map-reading, counting, musical and language skills to help Dora reach the treasure. Adult tickets are $10.  Children are $5. June 14 – CSU Attempts World's Largest Swimming Lesson Record
Interested in learning how to swim? Columbus State University will welcome anyone interested in learning or improving their swimming skills to be part of the third annual World’s Largest Swimming Lesson at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 14 at CSU’s Student Recreation Center. The first World’s Largest Swimming Lesson in 2010 set a Guinness World Record, and the 2011 event quadrupled that record total with 20,000 participants in 45 states and 13 countries. The event is free to participants, who are encouraged to pre-register, arrive early in swimwear, bring a towel and, if needed, goggles. Walk-ins will be welcome. June 16 – English Horn Masterclass Recital
CSU’s Schwob School of Music will host a recital by participants of the seventh annual English Horn Masterclasses with Carolyn Hove at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 16 in RiverCenter’s Legacy Hall. Participants will perform from the solo repertoire worked on during the four days of masterclasses with Hove. The recital will include works by Beethoven, Persichetti, Bozza, Mozart and Donizetti and will feature Schwob faculty pianist Yien Wang. The recital is free and open to the public. June 21 – Southeast Trombone Faculty Recital
CSU’s Schwob School of Music will host a recital by participants in the Southeast Trombone Symposium at 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 19 in RiverCenter’s Legacy Hall. The concert, culminating the June 19-21 symposium, will feature solo and chamber music for trombone.  Joining CSU professor Bradley Palmer are the trombone section from the Atlanta Symphony along with the New York Metropolitan Opera Orchestra's bass trombonist, Paul Pollard, and Schwob faculty pianist Yien Wang. June 22 – Southeast Trombone Professors Choir
CSU’s Schwob School of Music will also host a concert by participants in the Southeast Trombone Symposium at 8 p.m. Friday, June 22 in RiverCenter’s Legacy Hall. The choir is made up faculty of the June 19-21 symposium along with 25 trombone professors from some of the top schools around the country.  The group will perform as a trombone choir, also featuring organ professor Joseph Golden on the hall's Jordan Organ, along with percussion faculty artist Paul Vaillancourt and members of his percussion studio, led by CSU trombone professor Bradley Palmer. The concert is free and open to the public. June 25 – Summerflute 2012 Faculty Recital
CSU’s Schwob School of Music will host a concert associated with Summerflute 2012 at 4 p.m. Monday, June 25 in RiverCenter’s Legacy Hall. International flute soloists Amy Likar, Liisa Ruoho and Meerenai Shim, plus CSU faculty pianist Yien Wang, will perform a concert of solo and chamber music for flute and piano. This concert opens a week of learning for students attending Summerflute 2012.

June 27– Orientation for Transfer and Nontraditional Students
Columbus State will hold a two-day fall semester orientation on Wednesday, June 27 for students transferring from other schools or new students who have been away from the classroom five or more years. Check-in is 8-9 a.m. in the Student Recreation Center lobby. The cost is $106 per student and $50 per accompanying family member or guest. June 28-29 – Orientation for Traditional Freshmen Students
Columbus State will hold a two-day fall semester orientation on Thursday and Friday, June 28-29 for students who have been out of high school for less than five years. and transferring in less than 30 hours of credit from another institution.
