MARCH 26 - Silent Auction Benefit
Columbus State’s Servant Leadership Program will hold a silent auction to benefit the Bridges Learning Center of Columbus 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday in room 130 of the Schuster Student Success Center. Items for bid include golf passes, health club memberships, RiverCenter event tickets, a Charbroil grill and more. The Bridge center serves children with autism. MARCH 26, 27, 31, APRIL 3 - NCAA Softball at CSU
The CSU Lady Cougar softball squad will host the following doubleheaders at Lady Cougar Field:
• Friday: Fort Valley State, 3 & 5 p.m.
• Saturday: USC Aiken, 2 & 4 p.m.
• March 31: Georgia College and State, 5 & 7 p.m.
• April 3: Armstrong Atlantic State, 2 & 4 p.m.

MARCH 27 - Children’s Open House at Schwob School of Music
Children ages 3 and up are welcome to the Schwob School of Music for a Children’s Open House 2-5 p.m. Saturday, March 27 in the Saunders Center for Music Studies at RiverCenter. The program will include musical games, concerts, and a hands-on “musical instrument petting zoo.” The petting zoo will involve CSU music students guiding the children in handling and playing various musical instruments, covering strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion. Small informal recitals by soloists and chamber groups followed by question-answer sessions will take place in the Orchestra Room , and music games involving kazoos will take place in the choir room . Concurrently, performances in Legacy Hall will feature the CSU Orchestra Jordan Organ demonstrations by Professor Joseph Golden and the Youth Orchestra of Greater Columbus . Admission is free for children accompanied by an adult.

MARCH 27 - CSU New Music Ensemble to Perform
CSU’s new music ensemble, In the Current, will perform. 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 27 in RiverCenter’s Legacy Hall. The ensemble presents works by an international cast of pioneering composers including Gerald Barry, Toru Takemitsu, Steve Mackey and Steve Reich. Admission is free. MARCH 31 - Programs to Feature Poet Dorianne Laux
CSU’s Carson McCullers Center for Writers and Musicians will host poet Dorianne Laux for a pair of events on Wednesday, March 31. Laux will give an informal reading and lead a discussion at 4 p.m. in the McCullers house, 1519 Stark Ave. Columbus. She will give a formal reading at 7:30 p.m. in CSU’s International House Spencer Event Hall. Both programs are free. Laux, a North Carolina State University faculty member, authored Facts About the Moon , the recipient of the Oregon Book Award and finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award. Her other collections include Smoke ; What We Carry and Awake . In 2008, her Superman: The Chapbook was released by Red Dragonfly Press. Among her awards are a Pushcart Prize, an Editor's Choice III Award and a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. Her Columbus visit is a Georgia Poetry Circuit event, sponsored in part by the Georgia Council for the Arts, Grassroots Arts Project. For more information, call 706-545-4021.

APRIL 1 - Faculty Piano Recital
CSU Schwob School of Music faculty pianist Gila Goldstein will perform 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 1 in RiverCenter’s Legacy Hall. A native of Israel, Goldstein has performed both solo and collaboratively in her home country and around Europe and North America. Her performances and recordings have drawn critical acclaim. American Record Guide said Goldstein is “a pianist who plays with great flair, delicate nuances, fluid tempi and brilliance.” Admission is free.
