DEC. 1 – Reading by McCullers Center Creative Writing Fellow
Award-winning poet Jessica Garratt will read from her work 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1 in the Columbus Public Library auditorium,
3000 Wynnton Road. Admission is free. Garratt is residing this fall at Columbus State
University’s McCullers Center for Writers and Musicians as the center’s 2010 Marguerite and Lamar Smith Writing Fellow. She won the 2008
Agha Shahid Ali Prize from a University of Utah-hosted international competition for

Columbus State’s Schwob School of Music presents the CSU Philharmonic in concert 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1 in RiverCenter's Legacy Hall. The program
includes a world premiere of an overture by young composer William May, Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G with faculty pianist and Vine Cliburn Competition winner Alexander Kobrin, plus

Dec. 2 - CSU Wind Ensemble
The CSU Wind Ensemble performs a concert themed “Indestructible Spirit," 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2 in
RiverCenter's Legacy Hall. The program, with faculty conductor Jamie Nix and faculty
trumpetist Robert Murray, includes works by Kabalevsky, Walczyk and Puts. The concert
also includes Steven Bryant’s Ecstatic Waters, which incorporates a computerized blend of acoustic and electronic sounds. The program
