Nov. 25-27 - CSU to Close for Furlough, Holiday
Columbus State will close Wednesday — the result of a furlough day — and remain closed Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving.

NOV. 27-28 - NCAA Women’s Basketball: Jack Hughston Classic
Columbus State’s women’s basketball squad will host and compete in the Jack Hughston Classic Friday and Saturday, Nov. 27-28 at the Lumpkin Center. The match-ups include CSU and Tusculum , Georgia College and State and Tusculum and CSU and Carson Newman . Daily Lumpkin Center admission prices are $5 for adults; $3 for students/kids ; and free for ages 5 and under and CSU students, faculty and staff with ID. NOV. 30 – NCAA Men’s Basketball: ‘Spirit Night’
The CSU men’s basketball squad will play Carver Bible College 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30 in the Lumpkin Center. The game also is designated as a “Spirit Night,” as CSU student organizations will stage special activities, including a school spirit competition. Admission prices are $5 for adults; $3 for students/kids ; and free for ages 5 and under and CSU students, faculty and staff with ID. DEC. 1 – Ensemble to Perform Contemporary Selections
A new Schwob School of Music ensemble, In the Current, will perform contemporary works 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1 in RiverCenter’s Studio Theatre. The program will include Julia Wolfe’s Lick; Elliott Carter’s trio Esprit Rude/Esprit Doux II for flute, clarinet and marimba; Finnish composer Kaija Sarriaho’s Ciel étoilé for percussion and double bass, featuring CSU Jazz Studies Director Alex Pershounin; Edgard Varese’s Ionisation, featuring the CSU Percussion Ensemble; Morton Feldman’s I Met Heine On The Rue Furstenberg, featuring soprano Michelle DeBruyn; and Fred Rzewski’s politically charged Coming Together, based on the Attica prison riots of 1971. DEC. 3-4 – Lunch With Santa at CSU Theatre on the Park
Columbus State University will host invited children, ages 3-7, from area day care centers and elementary schools, for a “Lunch with Santa” event from 10 a.m.- 1 p.m. on both Thursday and Friday, Dec. 3-4 at CSU Theatre on the Park in downtown Columbus. Prior to a lunch and appearance by Santa, a 12-student CSU theatre cast will perform Santa’s Christmas Tree at 10 and 11 a.m. both days. DEC. 3 - CSU Philharmonic
The CSU Philharmonic will perform 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3 in RiverCenter’s Legacy Hall. Schwob School of Music Director Fred Cohen will conduct a program featuring Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4 and Mahler’s Blumine. The concert is free. DEC. 3 – Stand-Up Comedy from Kareem Green, Corey Miller
Nationally recognized comedians Kareem Green and Corey Miller will perform 8-9:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3 in the University Hall auditorium at Columbus State University. Green was a finalist of Comedy Central’s Laugh Riots, a three-time Showtime at the Apollo champion and a finalist on Bill Bellamy’s Who’s Got Jokes. Miller has performed on Comedy Central, NBC’s Tonight Show, HBO’s Def Comedy Jam, BET’s Comic View and Showtime at the Apollo. Sponsored by CSU’s Student Activities Council, the program is free and open to the public. Content may not be suitable for young teens. DEC. 4 – Christmas Flavors from Around the World
CSU’s Columbus Hispanic Association, a student organization also known as CHISPA, invites guests to sample traditional holiday foods of various countries and cultures during “Christmas Flavors from Around the World,” 6:30-9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4 in CSU’s International House at 6 Clearview Circle. Admission is $5 and includes eligibility for door prizes. Proceeds will support CHISPA outreach activities, which include promoting higher education to, and mentoring, area Hispanic and Latino students in middle grades through high school.
