MARCH 23-26 - CSU STAGING THE MUSICAL PIPPIN
Columbus State Universitys Department of Theatre is staging the musical Pippin at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday in the Fine Arts Hall auditorium. Directed by theatre Professor Brenda May Ito, the performance is based on director/choreographer Bob Fosses original production that tells the story of Prince Pippins longing to discover the secret of true happiness. MARCH 24 PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE TO PERFORM ENCORE OF WORLD PREMIERE
The CSU Percussion Ensemble will perform an encore of I Have Only One Itching Desire, the piece they premiered in concert a few days earlier. Composed for the ensemble by Eric Moe, the performance will be part of the ensembles concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the RiverCenters Legacy Hall. General admission is free.

The featured song is based on Jimi Hendrixs Fire and central to Moes March 20-24 residency with CSUs McCullers Center for Writers and Musicians. Moe, a founding member of the San Francisco-based EARPLAY ensemble, currently co-directs the Music on the Edge new music concert series in Pittsburgh, Pa. He also directs the University of Pittsburghs graduate program in composition and the schools electroacoustic music studio. The Carson McCullers Composer Residency Program, a collaboration between CSUs McCullers Center and the Schwob School of Music, annually commissions a nationally recognized composer and premieres the commissioned piece. MARCH 25 - CSU TO STAGE MATH FUNTASTICS FOR K-6 STUDENTS
Columbus State Universitys Columbus Regional Math Collaborative will stage Math FUNtastics, a math and literature event for students in grades K-6, 2-5 p.m. Saturday, March 25 in the Columbus Public Library. Participants, grouped according to grades K-3 and 4-6, will listen to and read mathematics-related stories. Hands-on activities related to the stories will follow. The event is free. MARCH 30 - CSU DAY TO CELEBRATE UNIVERSITY-COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP
Columbus State University will celebrate its 12th CSU Day on Thursday, March 30 to recognize university donors communitywide. The celebration begins 9 a.m. with volunteers placing red, white and blue yard signs proclaiming We Are Partners With Columbus State University in front of CSU-supporting businesses and donors homes throughout the region. Also, the days $80,000 fund-raising goal will bolster CSUs 2005-06 Annual Fund drive toward $1.35 million to support academic and athletic scholarships, new technology, international education and community outreach programs. MARCH 30 - CAREERS EXPO 2006
The Columbus State University Career Center will host Careers Expo 2006 from 1-4 p.m. Thursday, March 30 in the Lumpkin Center. Sponsored in part by Accounting Principals, the event will provide an opportunity for career-minded individuals to meet prospective employers, network with corporate executives and potentially find a new career.

More than 75 companies and organizations, as well as several school districts, will be on hand for Columbus' longest running career event of its kind. MARCH 31 ASIAN NIGHT TO SHOWCASE JAPAN CULTURE
Columbus State University students from Japan, with visiting high school students from Kiryu, Japan, will stage Asian Night at 7 p.m. Friday, March 31 in CSUs International House at 6 Clearview Circle. The students will demonstrate calligraphy and origami and showcase Japanese fashions such as yukata . The program also will feature food and activities organized by the CSU Japanese students. The event is free and open to the public.

The 10 Kiryu high school students, with a chaperone, will be on a March 26-through-April 4 Columbus visit, sponsored by Aflac and coordinated by CSUs Center for International Education and the Columbus Mayors Commission on International Relations and Cultural Liaison Encounters. MARCH 31-APRIL 4 - CSU TO STAGE HISTORIC SERIES OF CONCERTS
The upcoming March 31-April 4 period is described as perhaps the most important five days in the history of the Schwob School of Music, by CSUs music school Director Larry Kaptain. These five days, said Kaptain, are distinguished by world-class artist collaborations with the CSU Premier concert series:

• March 31: Miami String Quartet featuring Betty Anne Diaz, 7:30 pm in Legacy Hall, $30.
• April 1: Rob Kapilow and 'What Makes It Great?' with the Miami String Quartet and Betty Anne Diaz 10 a.m. in Legacy Hall, $20
• April 3: Jon Kimura Parker solos with the CSU Philharmonic and guest conductor David Lockington, 7:30 p.m. in the Bill Heard Theatre, $30.
